Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q.
I don’t have a team to train, just myself. Do you have public courses?

A.
Yes, on-demand. We usually deliver this course as closed courses for companies but we can arrange this as a public course anywhere in Australia. Contact us and express interest in a public course. We’ll then schedule one and start promoting it.

Q.
Is this training available as a self-paced course?

A.
No. We only offer this training as a live, interactive training course. We find students get much more value through interaction with the trainer and other students.

Q.
Do you offer any other training course?

A.
Yes. We have a full curriculum for TFS 2013, TFS 2015 and Visual Studio Online. Find out more at
http://www.alm-training.com

Q.
Is this training available outside Australia?

A.
Yes. We have a number of delivery partners in the United States and Europe. Contact us for more information.

Training Manuals

Q.
Why are the manuals provided as PDF files?

A.
Microsoft typically release updates to Visual Studio Online every 3 weeks and Team Foundation Server every 3 months. We are constantly enhancing and updating our manuals. Electronic delivery of manuals as PDF files ensure you get the absolute latest information. If you prefer printed manuals, we can arrange this as an optional extra.

Q.
Can we print the manuals ourselves?

A.
Yes. Students download their courseware at the start of each course and are welcome to print the PDF for their own personal use.

Q.
Can we purchase just the manuals?

A.
No. We do not license our courseware directly to third parties.

Remote Training

Q.
How does remote delivery work?

A.
Remote delivery is an ideal way to deliver the same quality training without the added expense associated with paying flights and accommodation to attend a course or fly a trainer to you. Using GotoMeeting, students are able to watch the trainers presentation and demonstrations as well as hear what they are saying. We use GotoMyPC to allow students to remotely access the labs machines we typically host in our data centre or on Microsoft Azure.

Q.
Does a remotely delivered course cover the same content?

A.
Yes. There is basically no difference between a remotely delivered course versus having a trainer physically present in the room. The delivery and the hands-on-labs are exactly the same. It usually just comes down to personal preference. Remote delivery generally saves flight and accommodation costs for the trainer.

Onsite Training

Q.
What facilities do I need for you to run this course onsite for my team?

A.
If you prefer to have the training delivered onsite for your team, you will need the following. A suitable training room or conference room that can comfortably accommodation all students plus the trainer. The room should have a data projector, screen and a whiteboard is desirable. Each student will need access to an internet connected PC where they can use GotoMyPC to access the lab computers for hands on lab exercises.
